Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to join our client's team in providing Paediatric and Special Care dentistry to vulnerable children and adults resident in the South West of England.

Our client is committed and friendly team that puts their people and patients first - join us in providing this valued NHS dental service in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly.

On offer is a salaried position with the benefit of an NHS pension and a host of other benefits available - outside of the typical Band C criteria. Whether you are looking for ongoing support and professional development, flexible working conditions, enhanced financial package, want to explore clinical dentistry outside of your specialism, to break up your working week, we'd love to engage in a conversation about what you are after?

If you think it sounds too good to be true, think again. As a social enterprise, our client is able to re-invest their profits in to community outreach projects, or in to their own staff to provide development opportunities and new clear career pathways.

All we are asking for is that you are a dentist who genuinely wants to make a difference in the community and help our client create an environment which is a great place to work.

The post holder will:
  • Provide comprehensive Special Care dentistry to vulnerable children and adults who are unable to access general dental practice due to complex physical, medical, mental, behavioural, social, emotional, intellectual, sensory impairment or disability.

  • Treat referred patients, providing treatment with general anaesthesia and sedation as deemed necessary for adults and children

  • Occasionally treat visitors to the county requiring emergency care

  • Work in collaboration with other dental health professionals, and health care and social care professionals

  • Actively engage with our client's teams and participate in audit activities, development and in-house meetings etc

  • Be responsible for safe working and practice on a day-to-day basis in sites of clinical activity, ensuring compliance with clinical governance and legislation, appropriate health, safety and security procedures within the work area, and report accidents, incidents and near misses using our client's incident reporting procedure

  • Provide mentoring and training for other members of the clinical team

  • Participate in appropriate community dental and oral health promotion activities

  • Undertake other reasonable duties as requested by the Clinical Director and our client's Management Team

The package includes but is not limited to:
  • Paid indemnity and GDC registration
  • 32 days paid annual leave plus bank holidays each year
  • Personal relocation support and package of up to 8,000 (where appropriate)
  • A dedicated training package, both clinical to maintain your CPD and wider professional development via our Smile Together Training Academy
  • A friendly support network with an induction colleague assigned to assist your transition to our company
  • Staff benefits package
  • 100% laboratory fees paid
  • Access to reliable equipment including digital x-rays
  • Great work life balance in a beautiful part of the country
  • Opportunity to become a shareholder and have a voice in our employee-owned business
