Job Title: Dental Therapist

Salary: £26,260 - £32,320 p/a (pro rata)

Hours: 37.5 hours (full time)

Responsible and accountable to: Brighter Dental Area Manager / Clinical Director

Location: Penzance, Cornwall

Role Summary:

The post holder will:

  • Provide clinical dental treatment within our Practice on prescription from the Dentists, for children and adults
  • Deliver dental hygiene services to our patients both on referral from the Dentist and also on a direct access basis
  • Be actively involved in the Smile Together Dental CIC teams
  • Be responsible for safe working and practice on a day-to-day basis in sites of clinical activity
  • Be responsible for ensuring compliance with appropriate health, safety and security procedures within the work area, and report accidents, incidents and near misses using the Smile Together incident reporting procedure
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested by your line manager and the Smile Together Management Team

Key accountabilities:

  • Treating target numbers of patients but with time to apply your patient skills, enabling genuine quality care provision
  • Maintaining and developing your clinical competency and continuing professional/personal development according to agreed training needs via our Smile Together Training Academy
  • Consider becoming a shareholder and having a voice in our business to help drive forward as an employee-owned Community Interest Company
  • Accommodating on-going organisational change demonstrating flexibility and adaptability

This post requires Occupational Health clearances, DBS clearance and two satisfactory references prior to start date, with all interview and appointment expenses covered including travel and DBS check.

Working conditions:

  • It is expected that post holders will be familiar with NHS dental services regulations
  • It is expected that post holders will be willing to receive appropriate on-going training and professional/personal development
  • The work is primarily clinic based and will include use of computer and telephony equipment
  • The work may include occasional light lifting duties such as stationery boxes, files, dental consumables or other deliveries
  • There may be occasions when travel to work in other locations will be required, with paid business mileage
